 About the Learnership

The Phlebotomy Learnership is a 24-month full-time programme that combines classroom learning with hands-on practical training in real healthcare environments. ()

Successful candidates will be trained to become professional Phlebotomy Technicians — specialists who collect blood samples for medical testing.

What You Will Learn

During the programme, you will gain skills in:

• Blood collection techniques (phlebotomy)

• Patient care and communication

• Laboratory safety and procedures

• Medical professionalism

By the end of the programme, you will be job-ready and qualified to work in clinics, hospitals, and laboratories.

 Training Locations

Training will take place in:

• Centurion (Gauteng)

• Durban (KwaZulu-Natal)

You will also complete practical training at Ampath laboratories.

 Duration

• Start Date: January 2027

• End Date: December 2029

• Schedule: Monday to Friday (Full-time)

⚠️ Note: This is a full-time programme — you cannot work another job during training.

 Minimum Requirements

To apply, you must:

• Be under 35 years old

• Have Matric (Grade 12)

• Achieve at least:

  • 60% in Mathematics

  • 60% in Life Sciences / Biology

  • 60% in English

• Not have qualifications above NQF Level 4

• Have access to a smartphone or internet

These requirements are important to qualify for programme funding.

What Happens After Completion?

After completing the programme:

• You can register as a healthcare professional

• You can work as a Phlebotomy Technician

• You gain experience that opens doors in the medical field

This learnership offers a direct pathway into employment.
