Main purpose of the job:
To work in collaboration with the South African Population Research
Infrastructure Network (SAPRIN)
A National Research Infrastructure of Health and Demographic Surveillance
System (HDSS) Nodes
Initiative at Wits RHI to support major improvements in health, social and
economic wellbeing in impoverished, yet rapidly evolving populations.
Location: Wits RHI Research Centre Clinical Research Site – 7 Esselen Street,
Hillbrow (3rd to 5th Floor)

Key performance areas
To collect data accurately using a survey questionnaire on Survey Solutions (SS) databases, which are installed
in a tablet device.
Recruitment for participation in randomised housing structures in Hillbrow and obtain consent for survey
participation.
Distribute flyers highlighting the survey, outreach within the Hillbrow community raising awareness of the study.
Collect data accurately by gathering COVID-19 knowledge, perceptions, impacts and prevention behaviours
among Hillbrow residents using online database RedCap.
Gather an Estimate number of people who were previously infected with COVID-19.
Register all volunteering participants on the appropriate data collection tools (Redcap/Survey Solutions).
Resolve data queries of rejected interviews by Quality Control (QC)
Compile daily reports (Analyse information recorded when necessary).
Take ownership and accountability for tasks and demonstrates effective self-management.
Maintain a positive attitude and respond openly to feedback.
Required minimum education and training
Matric (tertiary qualification preferable)
Counsellor certificates (advantageous)
Desirable additional education, work experience and personal abilities
Fluency in more than one African Language.
Experience working with data handling and reporting.
Ability to prioritize tasks and work in a team.
