POST 28/351: EMS SESSIONAL CLEANER (X2 POSTS)

SALARY: 10 hours per week @ R70.60 per hour

CENTRE: EMS West Coast Stations: Vredenburg, EMS Overberg Stations: Botrivier

REQUIREMENTS

Minimum requirements: Basic numeracy and literacy skills.

Experience: Appropriate experience as a Cleaner in a hospital/health facility environment.

Inherent requirements of the job: The ability to do physical tasks and operate heavy duty cleaning and household equipment. Rotate in different departments according to operational needs and requirements.

Competencies (knowledge/skills): Good interpersonal skills. Knowledge of the correct methods of handling and disposal of refuse/waste products and adherence to policy and cleaning practices. Excellent communication Skills (verbal and written) in at least two of the three official languages in the Western Cape.

DUTIES

  • General cleaning and maintenance (sweeping, scrubbing, refuse removal, dusting, mopping, polishing, cleaning hospital grounds, cleaning of windows and walls).
  • Effective and efficient utilization and storage of cleaning material and equipment.
  • Effective Maintenance and removal of Medical and Domestic Waste.
  • Adhering to safety precautions and ensure adherence to occupational health and safety policies.
  • Maintaining of a high standard of neatness and hygiene in the facility.
  • Effective maintenance of grounds.
  • Optimal support to Facility manager, supervisor, and colleagues.

Requirements :

 

Grade 10, ABET or authentic School report. Good verbal and written communication skills. Ability to read and write. Ability to work under pressure and ability to perform routine tasks. Must be prepared to work shifts, weekends, public holidays and night duty. Preference will be given to the EPWP employees Employment measures could be gender and race that has got less presentation in the section. Knowledge of using cleaning equipment will serve as advantage. In order to address the Employment Equity agenda in line with the Employment Equity Plan of the institution, preference will be given to White males and females, Indian males and females as well as Coloured males and females.

 

Duties :

 

Perform all cleaning service of routine nature with utilisation of various aids including cleaning floors, lift and stairs, washing windows, mirrors, cleaning bathrooms, toilets, cleaning wards, management of waste and collection of healthcare risk waste consumables, offices and non-clinical areas within the hospital and the removal of general and medical waste in designated areas within the hospital. Perform any other cleaning activities as directed by team leader / supervisor.
