Polokwane, August 2025 – The Limpopo Department of Health has opened applications for 350 temporary Malaria Spray Operator positions across five districts in the province, offering a daily stipend of R310.00 for a 132-day contract. This initiative, aimed at combating malaria, is a critical step in protecting communities in high-risk areas. The application window closes on August 29, 2025, and interested candidates are urged to apply promptly.

Key Details of the Opportunity

The positions are distributed across the following districts:

  • Mopani District: 163 positions across 22 centres, including Bellevue, Mokgwathi, and Tzaneen Farms.
  • Vhembe District: 159 positions across 20 centres, such as Malamulele Clinic and Mutale Health Centre.
  • Waterberg District: 11 positions at Witpoort.
  • Sekhukhune District: 5 positions at Naboomkoppies.
  • Capricorn District: 12 positions at Ratshaatshaa (Eldorado).

The roles involve critical tasks such as mixing insecticides, conducting indoor house spraying, treating water bodies, and performing environmental and community surveillance. Candidates will also assist with data capturing and maintaining cleanliness at malaria stations.

Eligibility and Requirements

Applicants must meet the following criteria:

  • Age: Between 25 and 40 years.
  • Qualifications: A minimum of a Grade 12 / Matric Certificate or equivalent NQF level 4 qualification.
  • Skills: Basic reading, writing, and calculation skills, along with physical fitness to handle spraying equipment and work with chemicals.
  • Additional Notes: Female applicants must not be pregnant or breastfeeding due to the use of chemicals, with pregnancy tests required before and during the contract. Applicants must be unemployed and not receiving any government grants or stipends.

  1. Complete the new Z83 form, available from any government institution or at www.dpsa.gov.za.
  2. Submit a comprehensive Curriculum Vitae (CV).
  3. Apply separately for each centre if applying to multiple locations.

Applications must be submitted by August 29, 2025. Shortlisted candidates will undergo interviews, practical assessments, and an Integrity (Ethical Conduct) Assessment as per the Directive on Human Resource Management and Development for Public Service Professionalization, effective from April 1, 2024. Successful candidates will also be subject to security clearance.
