About the Role
The purpose of the Shop Assistant/Cashier (P27) position is to provide customers with an excellent shopping experience through:
- Delivering outstanding customer service
- Processing customer transactions accurately
- Replenishing stock
- Maintaining merchandising standards
- Keeping the store clean and organised
- Supporting daily store operations
Successful candidates should be enthusiastic, hardworking, and willing to work in a busy retail environment.
Minimum Requirements
Applicants should have:
- Grade 12 (Matric) or an equivalent qualification
- Excellent customer service skills
- Good communication skills in English (additional South African languages are an advantage)
- High energy levels
- Strong interpersonal skills
- A positive attitude
- Ability to work under pressure
- Previous retail or cashier experience is advantageous but not always required.
Key Responsibilities
The successful candidates will be responsible for:
- Greeting and assisting customers
- Operating the till and processing payments
- Handling cash, cards, refunds, and lay-bys
- Assisting customers with product enquiries
- Replenishing stock on shelves
- Pricing and merchandising products
- Maintaining store cleanliness and housekeeping
- Participating in stock counts
- Reporting suspicious activities or stock losses
- Following Ackermans policies and procedures at all times.
