Main Duties and Responsibilities
The successful candidate will provide customer service at the point of sale while ensuring transactions are processed accurately according to Dis-Chem’s policies and procedures.
Responsibilities include processing cash, bank-card, voucher and coupon payments; handling customer returns and exchanges when authorised; processing loyalty cards; assisting customers with merchandise queries; and keeping money securely inside the till.
The Cashier must also ensure that all outgoing items are scanned and paid for, follow cash-handling procedures, report suspicious behaviour and comply with Dis-Chem’s security requirements.
Customer complaints and compliments must be reported to the Frontline Supervisor or store management.
Skills and Competencies
Applicants should understand how to operate cash registers, maintain cash drawers and process sales, refunds and payments.
Dis-Chem is looking for candidates who demonstrate accuracy, attention to detail, honesty, accountability, time management, problem-solving ability and emotional intelligence.
Applicants should also be presentable and comfortable communicating with customers.
Knowledge of a third additional language will be advantageous.
Special Conditions of Employment
Candidates must be willing and able to work retail hours and should have reliable transport or live close enough to the store to travel reliably.
