Minimum Requirements

Applicants must have:

• Grade 12 / Senior Certificate
• Minimum N3 theory in Carpentry or an equivalent relevant qualification
• Recognised Trade Test Certificate in Carpentry and Woodwork
• A valid South African Code B driver’s licence will be an added advantage
• Good communication, interpersonal, planning and problem-solving skills
• Ability to work independently and within a team
• Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines
• Willingness to work standby, overtime, weekends and public holidays when required

Duties and Responsibilities

The successful candidate will perform carpentry maintenance, repairs and installations at Weskoppies Hospital. Duties include repairing and maintaining cupboards, doors, ceilings, shelves, counters and other wooden structures and fittings.

The employee will inspect carpentry installations, identify defects, assess maintenance requests and determine the materials, tools and equipment needed for each task.

Other responsibilities include maintaining tools and work areas, recording completed maintenance requests, reporting defects and material shortages, complying with occupational health and safety requirements and providing progress feedback to the supervisor.
