Who Can Apply?

Applicants must have one of the following qualifications:

• Grade 12 / Standard 10 with Mathematics and Physical Science, OR
• N3 Technical Engineering in Chemical, Mechanical, Electrical, Metering Control or Instrumentation.

Candidates must also have a valid Code 08–10 driver’s licence and a good command of English.

Applicants will be required to pass a competency assessment covering technical ability, numerical reasoning, verbal reasoning and abstract reasoning.

What Will Trainees Learn?

Successful candidates will receive training to perform specialised controller duties within Transnet’s pipeline operations.

Training will cover areas such as risk and pollution control, petroleum product movement, pipeline monitoring, product metering, product quality testing and pipeline shutdown procedures.

Trainees will also learn how to use Transnet’s operational systems and specialised equipment, handle mixtures and intermixtures, perform minor maintenance and safely launch and receive pigs and spheres used in pipeline operations.
