Minimum Requirements
Applicants must meet the following requirements:
- Grade 12 with Mathematics or Mathematical Literacy
- Be between 18 and 29 years old
- Must not have previously participated in the National Certificate: Banking
- Be prepared to work in an environment involving the processing and handling of cash
What Does a Cash Processor Do?
Successful candidates will receive exposure to different areas of SBV’s cash-processing operations.
One of the main responsibilities involves receiving cash deposits and capturing or updating the information on the relevant systems. Employees must follow company policies and procedures to reduce risks to both SBV and its customers.
Cash Processing and Note Sorting
Trainees may be responsible for preparing deposits for counting, checking cash bags or containers for signs of damage or interference and reporting irregularities to the Team Controller.
Other responsibilities include:
- Sorting and processing notes
- Checking deposits for accuracy
- Identifying and reporting differences
- Processing rejected notes
- Completing production records
- Performing daily balancing and reconciliation
- Checking for counterfeit, dye-stained or mutilated notes
- Transferring processed cash to vaults
Coin and Deposit Processing
The position also involves processing bulk coin deposits according to SBV procedures.
Candidates may be required to count and balance money, process teller coin transfers, operate cash-processing equipment and report discrepancies.
Employees must ensure that customer deposits remain separated and are processed correctly on the applicable systems.
Payroll, Treasury and Cash Preparation
Cash Processors may assist with payroll and change transactions as well as the accurate packing and unpacking of bank and ATM cash.
They are also expected to take proper care of company equipment and report defective machinery to the relevant Team Controller.
Skills Needed
Because the position involves handling money and sensitive financial transactions, candidates should be comfortable working accurately and following strict procedures.
Attention to detail, responsibility, accuracy and the ability to follow instructions will be important when carrying out daily duties.
